Zorlu Center

Zorlu Center, which was realized after winning first prize in an international architectural design competition held in 2007, is one of the city's major mixed-use developments. It is located at the intersection of Büyükdere Avenue, which connects the European access of the Bosphorus Bridge to the city center and the Maslak business district. Its accessibility—both by public transportation and private vehicles—from many parts of the city, along with its topographical advantage of offering simultaneous southern views of the Bosphorus, the historic peninsula, and the Marmara Sea, makes it highly valuable.

Beyond its advantageous location, a key concept in the project’s development was the balance between specialized spaces and shared common areas. In this context, it was aimed that different functions—such as hotel, office, residence, cultural center, and retail—could coexist seamlessly and even contribute positively to one another, enriching the overall experience. Although this scenario may seem complex at first glance, it was achieved through careful and rational planning.

The shopping and dining areas, which include both open and enclosed spaces, are positioned around a central square (piazza) located at the geometric heart of the complex. This square also connects Barbaros Boulevard in the northwest with the Levazım neighborhood in the southwest, functioning as a vibrant meeting point filled with daily activities, dining areas, and lively landscaping. Offices and home-offices are situated above the retail and dining spaces that surround the square across three levels.

Another key component within the surrounding shell structure is the performing arts center. It includes a 2,300-seat main hall, a 700-seat theater, various performance spaces of different sizes, rehearsal rooms, and foyers located on multiple levels—all integrated with the shopping center to serve large crowds.

The four masses positioned on top of this shell structure consist of one hotel and three residential buildings. Each of these structures features large terraces. Together, they form an important social hub where structures stand side by side, sometimes interwoven, attracting thousands of visitors every day.
